- Abstract
Design Research with a cycle that contains the components of knowledge (K), design (D), experiment (E), reflection (R) is a bridge to address students’ mathematical literacy skills. This research was conducted in one of the Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) in Palembang City, Indonesia with a sample of 20 students. The stages in this research are 1) preparing the experiment by conducting literature studies and preliminary research on student difficulties; 2) conducting observations, interviews, and collecting documents; and 3) analyzing observation data, interviews, and student work documents. The conclusion of this study is that the use of context provides space for students to produce diverse off models and contribute to solving mathematical problems. Then there are four groups that describe students’ mathematical literacy skills, namely: 1) need special intervention; 2) basic; 3) proficient; and 4) advanced.
