Abstract

Integrating technology in English language teaching requires teachers to have good digital literacy. This study aimed to analyze teachers’ digital literacy in English language teaching. 44 English teachers were selected through the purposive method. The data was collected using questionnaires based on the technological pedagogical content knowledge (TPACK) framework and observation. The validity test found that the t-table of 0.30 at a significance of 0.05 was lower than the t-counted, and the reliability value was 0.65, which meant that the research data was valid and reliable. The data analysis found that the average score for teachers in digital literacy was 3.55, which is categorized as a high level. The average score for the component of technological knowledge was 3,63; content knowledge was 3.66; pedagogical knowledge was 3.62; pedagogical content knowledge was 3,79; technological content knowledge was 3.27; technological pedagogical knowledge was 3.44; and technological pedagogical content knowledge was 3.37. The highest score was for pedagogical content knowledge, while the lowest was for technological content knowledge. The average digital literacy score of male teachers was 4.05, and that of female teachers was 3.54. Both are at a high level. There is no difference between male and female teachers’ digital literacies. The observation data analysis showed that teachers’ knowledge, skills, and creativity in digital tools were low as they still needed help operating computers, creating digital media and using media tools. English teachers’ knowledge and skills using computers and medical tools should be improved.
