Abstract

This study examines the significance, objectives, methods, and outcomes of college football teaching practice from the perspective of an integrated “learning–training–competition” model. As physical education in higher education continues to undergo reform and development, traditional teaching models no longer satisfy the demand for high-quality, application-oriented sports talents. By constructing a teaching model that tightly couples theoretical learning, skill training, and competitive practice, this study seeks to enhance students’ technical proficiency, tactical understanding, and competitive literacy. Using literature review, expert interviews, questionnaires, and an experimental, controlled design, we conducted a one-year practice study of the football program at Chengdu College University of Electronic Science and Technology of China. The findings indicate that this integrated model effectively improves students’ football skills, strengthens their competitive capacity, and increases opportunities for participating in competitions. The study enriches the theoretical framework of college football pedagogy and provides a valuable reference for teaching reform in other sports disciplines.
