- Abstract
Urbanization has exacerbated nature deficit disorder, which affects the physical and mental health of residents. Based on the self-determination theory, this study proposes a collaborative virtual environment (CVE) to build a “virtual-reality” education framework, and through a questionnaire survey, it is verified that the enhancement of environmental self-identification can improve pro-environmental behaviors, satisfy the needs for a sense of belonging, autonomy, and competence, and promote the mental health of urban residents. Based on this, it is proposed to introduce CVE in family and school education to enhance environmental self-identification through virtual-reality linked nature experience, which in turn promotes realistic nature contact and enhances mental health. The study can provide a reference basis for digital technology-driven eco-education, green family and other fields.
