- Abstract
This study aimed to explore the relationships among primary and secondary school teachers’ sense of calling, resilience and work engagement. A total of 600 primary and secondary school teachers were surveyed using the Scale of Calling, the Resilience Scale and the Work Engagement Scale. The findings were as follows: (1) The primary and secondary school teachers’ scores on calling, resilience, and work engagement were all at a medium-high level. (2) There were significant positive correlations among calling, resilience, and work engagement. Both calling and resilience were significant positive predictors of work engagement. (3) The calling of primary and secondary school teachers could directly influence their work engagement, and it could also affect work engagement through resilience, sugguesting that resilience played a partial mediating role in this relationship. The results suggest that enhancing primary and secondary school teachers’ level of calling and resilience can effectively motivate them and increase their work engagement.
