- Abstract
Based on the concept of Outcome-Based Education (OBE), this study constructs a hybrid teaching model of ‘SPOC + Rain Classroom + Flipped Classroom’ and applies it to the course of Measurement and Costing of Construction Works. Through controlled experiments (n = 199) and quantitative and qualitative analyses, we verified the effect of this model on the improvement of students’ academic performance and core competence. The results showed that the mean score of the summative assessment of the experimental class was significantly higher than that of the traditional class (+15.5 points for engineering construction and + 11.9 points for engineering management), and the enhancement rates of independent learning ability (80% vs. 28%), teamwork (80% vs. 30%), and problem solving ability (82% vs. 30%) were significantly higher than those of the control class. This study provides a useful reference for teaching mode innovation in engineering education.
