Abstract

This article presents a structured and contextualized methodological guide designed to support teachers in integrating the LabInnov platform—an interactive environment for virtual practical work in Life and Earth Sciences. The guide addresses the need to offer an alternative to physical lab work, often constrained by material, logistical, or safety-related limitations.

Based on a qualitative and descriptive approach, the guide was developed through a functional analysis of the platform, identification of teachers’ pedagogical needs, and a review of actual classroom practices. It is enriched with supplementary resources (video tutorials, webinars, FAQs) and practical appendices to support lesson planning, self-assessment, and pedagogical implementation. It also promotes a community of practice to encourage experience-sharing and continuous professional development.

The results highlight the pedagogical added value of this structured approach, facilitating the appropriation of LabInnov by teachers, the integration of virtual practical work into curricular sequences, and students’ active engagement in experimental learning. However, limitations remain, particularly regarding digital access and the need for initial training. Broader pilot implementations are recommended to assess the guide’s impact in diverse educational settings.

This work represents a first step toward the reasoned, supported, and sustainable integration of virtual practical work into secondary science education.
