Abstract

With the advancement of contemporary society, the education department has been promoting the new curriculum standards and comprehensive quality education, shifting the primary teaching goal toward the cultivation of core literacy. However, most current elementary school music instruction still relies on fragmented teaching content and lacks diversity in teaching methods, failing to prioritize the development of students’ core literacy, which results in inefficiencies in music education. In elementary school music instruction, a well-planned large-unit teaching method should be adopted to reorganize unit themes flexibly, integrating theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and students’ personal insights to create a structured and coherent larger instructional unit. This paper examines the concepts of core literacy in music and large-unit teaching, the significance of implementing large-unit instruction, and proposes strategies for constructing an efficient elementary school music classroom centered around weicore literacy. It provides theoretical guidance and practical reference for elementary school music education, promotes the innovation of teaching methodologies, and supports the comprehensive development of students’ overall literacy.
