Abstract

Performance-based evaluation is an assessment approach that evaluates students' behaviors and complex cognitive skills demonstrated during the task completion process. This study integrates project-based teaching with performance-based evaluation to enhance the instructional methodology of university PHOTOSHOP(PS) courses. By comparing data pre- and post-optimization, conducting classroom observations, and analyzing student performance and feedback, this research elucidates the impact of performance-based evaluation on PS course projects at universities. The findings indicate: first, the project-based performance evaluation model in university PS courses significantly enhances students' learning capabilities; second, this teaching model effectively stimulates students' interest in learning; third, the project-based performance evaluation model has been validated as operationally feasible, yielding positive classroom outcomes and demonstrating potential for broader application in subsequent instruction. Consequently, it is recommended that performance-based evaluation be implemented in university PS course projects, supported by targeted strategies to identify areas for future improvement. This study aims to provide valuable insights into the optimization of university PS course instruction.
