Abstract

Higher education serves as a crucial indicator of a nation’s developmental level and potential. As a pioneer in China’s reform efforts, Guangdong Province has dedicated itself in recent years to advancing education through technological innovation and talent cultivation, fostering professionals equipped for the new economic landscape within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. This study, grounded in theoretical research on higher education’s role in high-quality economic development, employs a combination of entropy weighting and grey relational analysis to examine both individual and systemic factors influencing Guangdong’s higher education on high-quality economic growth. The findings reveal: 1. From an individual grey relational perspective, human resource investment and the conversion of research outcomes into practical applications are key indicators influencing high-quality economic development, with these indicators subject to certain variations due to policy changes. 2. From a systemic grey relational perspective, the overall indicator system possesses a certain explanatory power regarding high-quality economic development.
