Abstract

Applying the theory of planned behavior and self-involvement, this study identified the relationship between external governmental efficacy and public-sphere environmental behavioral intentions and explored the underlying mechanism. A total of 560 completed survey questionnaires were collected. The result revealed that external governmental efficacy was directly and indirectly correlated with individual’s public-sphere pro-environmental behaviors through the sense of self-involvement on individual’s attitude, subjective norms and perceived behavior. Both theoretical and practical contribution are discussed.
