- Abstract
In the digital economy driven by the Fourth Industrial Revolution, disruptive technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, and blockchain are fundamentally reshaping the industrial landscape. Against this backdrop, technology mergers and acquisitions (M&A) have emerged as a key strategic approach for enterprises to enhance their core competitiveness. In recent years, the scale of global technology M&A transactions has reached unprecedented levels, reflecting the growing emphasis on rapid innovation and market expansion. However, while M&A activities can accelerate business growth and technological iteration, they also entail significant integration risks, including organizational culture clashes, operational inefficiencies, and misaligned strategic objectives. These challenges have resulted in a majority of technology M&A deals failing to achieve their anticipated value. To address these issues, this study adopts a dynamic integration perspective to analyze the phased evolution of knowledge assets and R&D teams in post-M&A scenarios. By examining the interplay between technological assimilation and human resource integration, the research proposes a systematic operational strategy framework to optimize M&A outcomes. Furthermore, through comparative case studies of both successful and failed technology M&A transactions, this paper identifies critical success factors and common pitfalls. Key findings highlight the importance of cultural alignment, effective leadership, and structured knowledge transfer mechanisms in ensuring post-merger success. Based on these insights, practical recommendations are provided to guide enterprises in navigating the complexities of technology M&A integration, ultimately enhancing long-term value creation in the digital era.
