Abstract

The achievements of Indonesian athletes at the Paris 2024 Olympics have drawn many comments from the public and the media. The high targets set for the Indonesian team, especially in badminton, have drawn many reactions. This study aims to determine how the coverage of the news of the achievements of Indonesian athletes at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The method used in this research is Robert N. Entman’s framing analysis. The unit of analysis used in this research is the news on online media which includes Detik.com and Kompas.com during the 2024 Olympics. Based on the search results, researchers determined two news reports each on the Kompas.com and Detik.com news portals during the period July 26, 2024 to August 11, 2024. The consideration of the two news reports chosen is to be able to provide differences between the news in the midst and at the end of the 2024 Paris Olympics. The disappointment of Indonesian athletes’ achievements in the 2024 Paris Olympics was framed through the defeat of athletes from the leading sport, namely badminton. Indonesian people’s expectations of badminton to get a gold medal did not materialize at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The satisfaction of Indonesian athletes’ achievements at the 2024 Paris Olympics is framed through the victory of athletes from less favored sports, namely rock climbing and weightlifting.
