- Abstract
In recent years, the frequency and severity of children’s fire accidents have been high, due to the insufficient safety awareness and response ability of children in fires. Previous research results have shown that many studies have confirmed the effectiveness and reliability of applying virtual reality technology to fire safety training. However, there is a lack of practical research on how virtual reality technology can be applied to children’s fire safety education. Traditional children’s fire safety education is only theoretical indoctrination and has limitations. IVR models fires in a virtual world, enabling participants to gain stronger risk perception and awareness, and also reducing the risk of skill training for learners in hazardous situations. This article reveals for the first time the benefits of introducing VR in primary schools. In an experiment targeting 60 children, we investigated practical aspects and teaching quality. Our research results indicate that children’s knowledge of fire safety has improved.
