Abstract

Engineering colleges in India are currently guided by AICTE & UGC norms. According to these norms regular teaching, laboratory supervision and assessments is for at least 180 days in a year. This work restricts to 180 days only due to the other compliances to be done by the teachers. Due to the continuous evaluation of students and the autonomy of the institutes lot of clerical work using computers is being done by teachers. The work includes online filling of attendance of students, paper setting, online feeding of In-Semester Evaluation marks, NAAC, NBA, sending different messages on whatsapp group of students’ class groups, uploading of reports related to different programs conducted by the colleges etc. In this research work, ergonomic analysis of teachers’ postures during computer related work is done. For this Rapid Upper Limb Analysis (RULA) is done using the software tool developed by The Ergonomics Centre of North Carolina. Also use of CATIA V6R20 is done for the same. The RULA score indicated that investigation and changes are required soon. It is observed that the current postures may lead to Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) in near future.
