Abstract

3D printing has come a long way, and you can see its impact all over the biomedical field. It’s opened doors for making medical devices in ways we never imagined, and it’s changing the game in tissue engineering for personalized medicine. In this review, we dive into the latest 3D printing materials and techniques that are pushing the biomedical industry forward. Biocompatible polymers hydrogels ceramic-based materials and composite structures are among the key materials that are opening the door to more efficient drug delivery systems implants and tissue scaffolds. Additionally the functionality of medical devices is being improved by the incorporation of smart materials like piezoelectric components and shape-memory alloys. For organ-on-a-chip models and tissue regeneration, printing methods like extrusion-based bioprinting, inkjet bioprinting, and stereolithography (SLA) are enabling the creation of incredibly complex cell-rich structures. With significant advancements in multi-material as well as multi-cell printing, it is now possible to generate ever more complicated and heterogeneity tissue structures.3D printing is being used in biomedicine for a variety of purposes including surgical planning tools novel drug delivery systems and customized implants and prosthetics. Nevertheless there are still obstacles to overcome such as scalability problems material limitations and regulatory barriers all of which must be removed for wider clinical adoption. 3D printing has the potential to greatly improve healthcare solutions as new materials and technologies become available advancing the development of personalized medical treatments and functional tissue engineering.
