The sample consisted of 100 layers famers living in Blitar Regency. Data obtained during interviews with farmer were used. The data were statistically analyzed using the Structural Equation Model (SEM) method to explore the correlation between farmers’ characteristic and farmers’ happiness, mediated by their quality of life. The result showed that the higher the level of farmers’ education background the higher their level of happiness. A high level of happiness is also influenced by the good quality of life of the farmers. Therefore, it can be concluded that the farmers’ characteristic plays an important role on farmers’ happiness index and quality of life.
