- Abstract
The preservation of digital documents poses a strategic challenge for contemporary institutional management. This article presents a structured narrative review of 22 key studies published between 2010 and 2025, focusing on strategic models and international standards for digital preservation. The analysis identifies five thematic areas: preservation models, regulatory frameworks, technological tools, institutional diagnostics, and operational challenges. The findings reveal an increasing adoption of standards such as OAIS and ISO 16363, along with the integration of emerging technologies including AI, blockchain, and decentralized systems across institutions with diverse levels of digital maturity. Despite notable progress, significant gaps persist in the implementation of sustainable preservation policies, particularly in Latin American contexts. The study concludes that effective digital preservation requires coordinated strategies that align technological infrastructure, regulatory compliance, organizational culture, and information security to ensure the long-term authenticity, accessibility, and reliability of digital assets.
