Abstract

The need for higher standards in the learning process is the issue facing the world of education. Children must be encouraged to develop critical and creative thinking skills in the learning process. This study aims to increase the learning motivation of class VI students of SDN Sarita through the application of Problem-Based Learning in the learning process of Civics Education. This type of research is called class action research (CAR). The study was conducted in two cycles, with the design consisting of action planning, implementation, evaluation/observation, and reflection stages. The subjects of this study were class VI students of SDN Sarita for the 2023–2024 academic year, with a total of 23 students. The data collection techniques used are observation, questionnaires, and interviews. The data were analyzed using a quantitative descriptive method. The analysis results show that applying the Problem-based learning model can increase student motivation in Civics Education subjects. Those can be seen in the average obtained in Cycle I of 2,010, which increased in Cycle II to 2,291. Meanwhile, classical completeness in cycle I was 74.44% and increased in cycle II to 84.85%.
