Abstract

Teacher competence plays an imperative part in moving forward the quality of instruction which can straightforwardly influence understudy learning results and the victory of instruction in Indonesia. One way to improve teacher competence is through participation in teacher-learning communities. This study aims to explore collaborative practices in learning communities that can contribute to the transformation of teacher competencies, especially at the elementary school level. Information was gathered using a subjective inquiry methodology through focus groups, in-depth interviews, and classroom observations of teachers taking part in the Arsaka Community of Practice. This study was conducted over 3 months and involved 170 members of the learning community. The findings show that the teachers’ learning community contributes significantly to the improvement of teachers’ pedagogical, social, and professional competencies through various activities such as training in the preparation of teaching modules, In-House Training (IHT), and lesson observation. Online guided discussions, webinars, and assistance in making concrete actions for self-training. The conclusion of this study confirms that collaboration in teacher-learning communities plays an important role in improving teacher competence. Learning communities create a supportive environment for continuous professional development, where teachers not only broaden their academic horizons but also strengthen social and leadership competencies.
