Abstract

The use of learning media, especially audio-visual media, is lacking in the learning of Indonesian, causing students to obtain less than optimal learning results. The use of media in learning is very important to maximize the learning objectives designed by the teacher. Learning media is an intermediary used to convey information with the aim of providing stimulation to students to learn. This research aims to determine the effect of using audio-visual media on increasing the ability to listen to folklore. This research uses a quasi-experimental or quasi-experimental research method with a pre-experimental research design type, two group randomized pretest-posttest design with a sample size of 40 students who are members of two class categorizations, namely the experimental class and the control class. The data collection instrument used was a test consisting of 25 questions and documentation. The results of the research show that the average pretest and posttest scores for the experimental class and control class have an average difference, the posttest score for the experimental class is 85.35 while the control class is 77.15, indicating that there is a significant difference in average scores. Other results also show that audio-visual media has an influence on listening learning, as evidenced by the results of the t-test hypothesis testing of -10.343 with a significance value of .000 using a t table comparison of 5% or 0.05, so that 0.00 < 0.05, so data has a significant positive effect on listening ability.
