Abstract

The rich variety of British and American film and television materials can provide students with a more authentic language environment and serve as an important medium for cultural dissemination. Therefore, their reasonable use in college English teaching can effectively stimulate students’ interest; interest in learning, help them understand the cultural differences between China and the West, and further enhance the effectiveness of English teaching. This article primarily explores the application strategies of British and American film and television materials in college English teaching. It first analyzes the diverse characteristics of these materials, then discusses their value in college English teaching, and finally proposes specific applications, aiming to provide a reference for improving the quality of college English teaching.
