Abstract

Zhuangzi mentioned peace in his own works. Life has multiple meanings here, in addition to the original helplessness, but also contains non-will, agnostic and contingency. Its scope includes helpless life circumstances, the meaning of the king and the minister of human society, and man-made unfair circumstances. The focus of life is how to safety, an emphasized to admit, understand, accept the helplessness of the world, give up the helpless matter of questioning, in order to get their own inner peace. By sorting out the hierarchy of the thoughts related to “life” in Zhuangzi, we find that the theory of “peace is like life” is different from other chapters simply discussing the thought of inaction, but takes the “peace” of the heart as the starting point and maintains the realm of “heaven” and “man”.
